Your piece "Kings, Kin, Kindness" really struck a chord, especially the lines about "Time to stand up, act, however we can do so. It’s now, or too late." It brings to mind those moments in life when you feel that quiet hum of necessity, the almost absurd sense that if you don't do something, who will? I remember once, standing on a street corner, utterly flustered by a sudden downpour, and seeing someone offer their umbrella to a stranger. It was a tiny act, but it held such a powerful echo of collective caring, a micro-demonstration of what we're capable of when we choose connection over convenience.
"Rise, resurge, each day", "Trust nonviolence". "All kin". "greater good". "steadfast, resist, insist". Words to walk with. Strive for again and again. Kindness, holding, soft hearts needed, places of refuge from the storm.
Happy Father’s Day to those who celebrate. Happy Non-Patriarch and Non-Male Monarch Day. I am in Chicago today for my son to receive his MBA. I raised him as his only custodial parent. He is a strong and positive force in our country. Named after Dwight Eisenhower in a career military family - I had to push-back on much toxic, male masculinity. I was schooled in violence and had to learn to be peaceful, without leaving strength behind. I have dealt with many wannabe monarch Presidents and shoulda, woulda, coulda Kings. This is not new. But it IS a new time and opportunity to be free, eventually. Maybe even now! Be kind today to anyone who is a father or ever had one. Peace, Dwight Lee Wolter.
Oh it's true, and humans forget. Nothing could be more royal or kingly or democratic or wise or true than kindness. Thank you Marisol for embodying this in your writing, your fairy dust sprinkles of love wherever you go on Substack, and for the community of kindness you have built in your writing and readership.
"caring makes us brave." commit to peace and to principles. your poem calls, inspires, warns and comforts. it's now or never. my heart is moved by your words and the feeling tone behind them. i pray for goodness to prevail this day. thank you, Marisol. thank you for the way you show up in the world.
Marisol, these words, among others here, speak to my soul - a clarion call to awareness and action grounded in loving truth. May we all move forward with courage, kindness, making peace and lifting each other up as we go. Thanks so much for the heart smile. 🙏🕊️

Observant Alex
notes needs, lacks, and caring acts.
Beyond convenience.
So many comments and restacks! Maybe the next democratically elected president proclaim June 14 “No Kings Day.”
The stakes seem scary.
May we stand, speak, vote as one.
True strength in numbers!

Again and again,
kindness, holding, refuge are.
“Words to walk with, “ yours.

A testimonial,
kings, fathers, men, patriarchy.
Freedom, possible!
(Dwight, your comment deserves to be a post! In case you don’t do so, will restack this post with it as a note.)
"Is it kind?" is the test of any anything done in the name of any God, or religion, or political party.
Joshua cuts to chase.
Kindness, best test of what’s best.
Pure distillation.

Oh friend, starving most?
Kathy stands, speaks for justice.
Feed each other’s soul.
The man sang 'There are no Kings inside the gates of Eden'.
To repair the world
calls for no king, yes to sing*
Thanks for restacking~

Deborah’s heart smile
fuels our tenacious resolve.
Across vast oceans.
Together we thrive.
Why do we forget kinship?
No one lives alone.
Leah’s wise haiku:
Two truths, one probing question.
We could learn from trees~
🩷🩷🌲🌳🌲
Why do we want/need/choose to have a King, again. Is history part of our stored knowledge?
We seem to forget
our history’s hard lessons.
Will we learn this time?
Kin and tribe will be taking to the steer in peace and hope
May peace and hope steer
us all towards our shared home.
Thanks to kin and tribe*
