Marisol, your words resonated deeply with me, particularly the phrase "Dare our hearts be touched." It's so easy to build walls, to protect ourselves from potential pain or disappointment. But what if those walls also keep out the very connections and moments that make life rich? I’ve found myself in situations where I’ve chosen to stay guarded, and while it felt safe in the moment, later I realized I’d missed out on something genuine. Your piece is a beautiful reminder that vulnerability, while scary, is also where the real magic happens. It's in daring to be touched, to be moved, that we truly experience the depth of being human. And honestly, sometimes, letting those walls down is the bravest thing we can do. It’s a bit like learning to swim – you have to trust that the water will hold you up, even when it feels like you might sink.
I had a hard day yesterday. In the grips of so much fear, distrust, despair. Trying to look out at the beauty that is always around us, the goodness, regardless, but having a hard time connecting to it. I usually read your words as soon as they come to me , but I couldn't open your post yesterday. I am trying to understand why, when I am feeling bad, it is so hard to reach out to something that I know it good for me, to connect to the goodness and beauty in the world that is always here. Your words are helping me today (thank you!), especially "Adversity dares us to rise and respond, like sun and moon respond by rising daily, regardless". . . . "Trusting life's deep truths." <3
The vulnerability of the salamander and the newt. These tender creatures throughout your post akin to how I feel. Soft, exposed, alive, fragile, yet able to find cracks and crevices to thrive in. Finding the company of others who stand and speak as you do. Reminding each other of the collective power of we-world. I love this. Thank you
You write from such a tender heart and so much poetic wisdom, Marisol! Thank you for your gifts, and for the mention too. I am honored and feel quite blessed.
You are truly manna for my soul; for many souls. Your snail and slug photos touched me especially and I'm so very grateful for your voice and vibe in this space. You are a true healer. Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU.
This is incredible. I am so honored to have inspired even a single word of something so beautiful and soulful. I always love seeing your comments pop up on my posts, and now I’ve got one more place to get my fill of your lovely thinking. 💙
These are so lovely, Marisol. I need to go back for a few more readings—each offering sheds more of its timely wisdom for these days. I liked ‘Gumption” and ‘Game On” in particular—I guess it’s where my heart is at the moment. But the others are just as impressive in their subtlety. I’m a little embarrassed to admit it never occurred to me to connect haiku together into a longer poem—so you’ve given me another form to play with. 💙
Oh, and yes…thank you for the shout out! That IS very humbling. 🙏🏼
A beautiful and meaningful weaving of words, all pointing toward hope, faith, resilience and determination. This poem is a light, and right now we need the light of each other to keep the qualities of humanity and civility alive. Thank you for this awe-filled, wonder-filled creation.
Beautiful heartfull poetry

Bittersweet, and, both.
Chiaroscuro combo.
Truth, complexity!

Just met those slow spunky slug and snail on a humanmade trail. Oh, may we watch our steps!
Slow, spunky slug and snail - I, too, meet them often and marvel. Always a reminder to tread with care.
To meet and marvel
at those crossing, tread with care.
That we can still do!
