Spreading Sleet-melting Sun Salutations
‘Twas a cruel winter,
yet we made it to kind spring.
Thanks, axial tilt!
Gray greige all around,
Mother Nature swaps palettes.
Now, green grass on ground.
Draining feelings still,
welcome signs of changing times.
Gaia infusion fill.
Sensing Straightforward Splendor
After the rainstorms,
a wildflower super bloom.
Botanical binge!
Badass bursts, bubblings,
buds, blossoms, beauty burgeons.
Spring season sounds, sights.
Birds, bees, butterflies,
here, there, (almost) everywhere.
Spring splendor galore.
Studying Skilled Safe Sheltering
Braided dry grasses,
tangles of fall foliage.
Nests of reeds and weeds.
New hummingbird nest,
repurposed scavenged remnants.
Mini boho craft.
Sounding Songs, Shouts, Silence Shh
Boisterous, loud, glad,
warm springtime’s morning warble.
Secular concert.
Soundless quiet, hushed,
cosmic meteor shower.
Spectacular show.
Savoring Soothing Softness
Early Spring blooming,
semi disguised, silent, white.
Seven brand new sprigs.
Young blossom petals,
pale, soft, smooth, tiny, tender.
Glow in deep dark nights.
Smart Sapient Seeds Saying ¡Sí!
Food garden, dormant,
dreams of bountiful harvests.
The seeds do their thing.
Every, each wee seed,
they know well what they must do.
When and how to grow.
Seed, sprout, seedling, birch,
began baby, and grew big.
The mighty life force.
Sitting, Serving
In simple small seeds,
oaks, elms, palms, pines await.
Shy snowdrops as well.
In the frail plantlet,
already in evidence.
Each one’s true nature.
In the bushy shrub,
find warmth, safety, full cover
the cute quail covey.
And on the tall tree,
scurry six sassy squirrels.
Cheery bluebirds roost.
Spring’s Staging
Some bushes, bare.
Some, budding.
Some, blooming.
Some trees, standing tall.
Some, teetering.
Some, toppled.
Some ferns, fresh, unfurling.
Some, fully unfurled.
Some grasses, gushing green.
Some, going, going, gone.
Springtime showings,
sublime sights for sore souls.
Spotting Sweet Spots
Graceful turkey, deer,
grazing on the green grass, near.
Goodness. Gracious. Dear.
Young mom doe with twins
munching on our new plantings.
Not our plan, oh well.
Supporting Shared Struggles
Spring’s public installations.
Flora, fauna, feeding fawn.
Original art.
Spring’s public demonstrations.
New versions of Arab Spring?
Local sprouting, blooms.
Surging Scented Soil
Despite stinking stench,
springtime shows up smelling fresh.
Primed for rebirthing.
Spring awakens us.
Seeds break, sprout in unlit nights,
trust the growing lights.
Buried seeds resurge,
heed warming soil’s wake-up call.
May pushed pips sprout strong.
Stretching Searching Souls
When we awaken,
We feel less weary, worry.
We do get working.
Wake up, stretch, emerge,
like big bears, now hear us roar!
Wild wise woke rising.
From hibernation,
out of burrows, caves, den homes
in every nation.
Shifting
From perhaps, to maybe.
From maybe, to hopefully.
From hopefully, to is.
From is, to next?
Are our sister souls stardust seeds, seedlings, saplings, spring, spirit?
Seeking Solutions
In clouding stormfronts,
saplings bend toward the light.
May spring springboard us.
Suffices
Springing Seeds, a micro-ode to germs
Spring Cleaning, a semi-serious antiseptic short story in verse
And yet, here comes spring.
Sandals strapped, sneakers shoe-laced?
We smile, also sneeze.
