Dire doom distractions
bait our focus, hook our hope.
Let’s claim thoughts, feels, acts.
Hums
With our sleeves rolled up,
we join heads, hearts, hands. Show up,
not shut up, let up.
…
Torn, split, heartbroken,
we huddle, hold each other.
We keep on working.
…
Heads up, front-facing,
we charge again, committed.
Hearts set on trying.
Hmm…
We move in passion,
as in Gibran’s The Prophet,
the heart as wind sail.
We rest in reason,
as in Gibran’s The Prophet,
the mind as rudder.
We sway in action,
rock the boat, ride waves, make wakes,
the hand as hull’s bow.
Helpful
We can comprehend,
cerebrate, also create.
With an open mind.
We can fully feel
our and others’ joys and hurts.
With an open heart.
We can work and play,
give and receive goods and grace.
With an open hand.
Hymns
May our heads, hands, linked,
be fuel for fairness’ furnace.
A valiant vision.
…
May our headspace be still.
May our heart space of love stay full.
May our handshake mean and make well.
…
May we be
wise and clear headed,
kind and warm hearted,
fair and even handed.
…
May we recognize what is in our hands,
and may we handle it as well as we can.
…
May our attitudes and actions
help repair, restore, rebuild, reform, transform.
Honing in
If ‘heart’ intelligence, ‘gut’ intuition and ‘hand’ industriousness
may be as important and impactful as ‘head’ information processing,
how to harmonize them with hope towards learning, growth, transformation, healing?
…
When, with our brains, compute and cogitate?
When, with hearts and guts, sense, sync and resonate?
When, with our hands, lift, build, manipulate?
When, with our beings, surrender, simply contemplate?
Humor
Is to manifest to have a fest with our hand,
or with the limbs of other beings,
or human beings, woman, man?

"show up, not shut up, let up" -- love this!
Marisol, your poems beautifully intertwine head, heart and hands, creating a poetic symphony of resilience and hope. I also clicked through to your wonderful short story on your website. Thank you for sharing them all.
